Chapel Mausoleum Veterans Garden of Honor
Garden Mausoleum Pet Cemetery

History:  Derived from the name Cola di Rienza, a 14th century Roman ruler, Rienzi  Cemetery is a non-sectarian, non-profit cemetery owned by the people who own the cemetery property here and those who have loved ones buried within the Cemetery.  The first grave was that of William Tallmadge, the 19 year old son and last child of Nathaniel Tallmadge, Wisconsin Territorial Governor.  He died in 1845; on his tombstone is the inscription:  "The first to sleep beneath these shades."  Eight years later, Tallmadge donated 8 1/2 acres from his farm for a pubic cemetery which was to become the final resting place for so many, including the rest of the Tallmadge family.

Rienzi Cemetery is nestled in the hills southeast of Fond du Lac, consisting of 100 acres and having the 1st mausoleum in this area built in 1930.  The history and heritage of Rienzi Cemetery is evident throughout our beautifully landscaped grounds. The numerous family plots in our older sections claim many connections to the early families of Fond du Lac.  One can recognize the names of many who have streets and buildings named for them as you travel though the city of Fond du Lac.

As a not-for-profit Cemetery Association, Rienzi is governed by a local Board of Trustees consisting of community leaders who serve voluntarily.  Also the association is a conduit through which individuals and businesses can support and preserve this beautifully unique historic landmark through gifts, bequests and wills.  All are charitable donations and are tax-deductible.  We continually strive to preserve this rich heritage by enhancing our facilities and growing and changing with the times.

In 2003 we added our new Chapel Mausoleum and office facility that serves as a pleasant meeting place for families to discuss all their options with our Family Service Counselor.  We also offer committal services within our beautiful new facility.

Please feel free to come to this beautiful and historic Cemetery located at Rienzi Road & Highway K.  See Map below.
